nope not true, money talks and shit walks, he can be personally easy sick of the English press and you know it, don't even try that BS. If you don't think Beckham will come to USA to play within 2 to 3 years your crazy. Nike will lure him with big money just to promote the ever-growing popularity of US Soccer. Look, we don't even care about the game as out 5th or 6th sport and yet we finished in the top 8 in the world in the last WC no? Watch out in 10 years mate.

Go US Soccer, much love, we will whoop Euro ass in coming years!

you cannot base the US's ranking on one tournament, and to be honest I think the whole FIFA world ranking is a joke. The USA played far more freindly's than any other team prior to the world cup, why? beacuase most USA players have no club comitments like the european players have. Theymore or lest spent the whole year preparing for the world cup together where as the euro and south american teams had a few weeks after a grewling season to prepare. I really do hope the US does improve in leaps and bounds in football. It can only be good for the game, just as long as ye dont try and break it into 4 quarters instead of 2 halves so as you can have more ronald macdonald ads

fuck the ranking I am talking about how USA did in the last World Cup man. Two games away from the semifinals. Hello? Germany vs. USA remember?

the point of this thread was that Beckham might come to USA based upon money and it goes without saying if they show him enough money and if he gets sick of Europa then he will come. Why not play in Miami, NYC, SF or LA? Shit I would even if I did have it made in Europe.

as i said before you cannot rank a team based on 1 tournament, hello, are you even reading my posts?
The last world cup was a crazy world cup, all the big teams underperformed. It was unbeleivable to see the likes of korea, senigal and the USA go so far, great to see it but dont go all cocky on us just because of one tournament. Lets wait and see, dont get on your high horse just yet

why not, exactly, you look at a lot of big teams and they SUCKED, including the likes of France. OUT first round, meaning any team can win it, parody rules and that's a good thing and that's exactly what FIFA wants, let's not kid ourselves here. The more they can sell Soccer/Football the better off they are, especially in USA where money rules above all else.

Did you even read the article?
He will not go to the USA becuae IT IS NOT COMPETITVE ENOUGH.
Why would he go for money when he already has lucrative contracts with addidas, vodafone, nike etc etc etc.
- sexypixel0
well that last post has confused me even more??? Whats your argument Jaz, cause I really dont know
- unknown0
because its not compettivie enough for him. Becham is one of the few players with a total and utter love for the game, sure money comes into it but he would be the first to say that the game comes before the money. He would misss the european leugues too much
sexypixel
(apr 25 03)Exactly. He can get as much money being in RM as in the USA (if not more), plus what he really wants is winning the Champions League, and with the current state of things he will only do that in Real. JazX, Nike will pay him wherever he is, same as Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, which have contracts with Nike even when Real Madrid as a team has a contract with Adidas ;) And besides that, 90% or more of Beckham's incomes are from the far east market (China, Japan...). If you have in mind that RM is the fav team in those countries... Well, 2+2=4. sexypixel, Gazza is actually playing the equivalent in China to the english 1st Division.

I read a different article and I don't believe newspapers as much as commentators. The commentators from ESPN here and in Europe said that there is a good chance that after next year he would come to US to play for shits and giggles, because really he has nothing left to prove in Europe as he's won just about everything with Man U. Why not come to USA to play, Nike is a US company and believe me they would rather keep that money close to home rather than have it spread out all over. Even though they probaby do make most of their money in the Asian market with that guy.

the article was writen by espn. That tit head Tommy Smyth with a 'y' hasnt a clue

Thank You:
LONDON -- Brad Friedel became the first American picked for the English Premier League team of the year when he was voted the top goalkeeper by his fellow players.
Friedel, the starter for the United States at last year's World Cup, finished first in voting by the Professional Footballers Association. He led Blackburn to the 2002 Football League Cup, then saved two penalty kicks for the Americans at the World Cup as the United States advanced to the quarterfinals.
"I'm no longer thought of as a foreigner in this league, which is an achievement in itself,'' Friedel said Monday, a day after the award was announced. "I think its fantastic for U.S. soccer that any player can be named in a best 11 for a league in Europe. Regardless of who it is, it only adds to the perception that the United States is producing quality footballers.''

I wouldn't go that far ahead as the 23rd Century, more like 10 to 20 years.
