I wouldn't go that far ahead as the 23rd Century, more like 10 to 20 years.

Thank You:
LONDON -- Brad Friedel became the first American picked for the English Premier League team of the year when he was voted the top goalkeeper by his fellow players.
Friedel, the starter for the United States at last year's World Cup, finished first in voting by the Professional Footballers Association. He led Blackburn to the 2002 Football League Cup, then saved two penalty kicks for the Americans at the World Cup as the United States advanced to the quarterfinals.
"I'm no longer thought of as a foreigner in this league, which is an achievement in itself,'' Friedel said Monday, a day after the award was announced. "I think its fantastic for U.S. soccer that any player can be named in a best 11 for a league in Europe. Regardless of who it is, it only adds to the perception that the United States is producing quality footballers.''

I read a different article and I don't believe newspapers as much as commentators. The commentators from ESPN here and in Europe said that there is a good chance that after next year he would come to US to play for shits and giggles, because really he has nothing left to prove in Europe as he's won just about everything with Man U. Why not come to USA to play, Nike is a US company and believe me they would rather keep that money close to home rather than have it spread out all over. Even though they probaby do make most of their money in the Asian market with that guy.

because its not compettivie enough for him. Becham is one of the few players with a total and utter love for the game, sure money comes into it but he would be the first to say that the game comes before the money. He would misss the european leugues too much
sexypixel
(apr 25 03)Exactly. He can get as much money being in RM as in the USA (if not more), plus what he really wants is winning the Champions League, and with the current state of things he will only do that in Real. JazX, Nike will pay him wherever he is, same as Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, which have contracts with Nike even when Real Madrid as a team has a contract with Adidas ;) And besides that, 90% or more of Beckham's incomes are from the far east market (China, Japan...). If you have in mind that RM is the fav team in those countries... Well, 2+2=4. sexypixel, Gazza is actually playing the equivalent in China to the english 1st Division.
