Ive been wondering what ours even does lately. Weve got 1 or 2 projects total. They never try to get new work. I think he thinks his job is to monitor me and become angry. Thinks he is the programming and web guru. Only actually knows one thing fairly well, Coldfusion, and has never even tried a real OOP language. Cant even attempt to design anything. Looks down on me like Im unskilled because Im not a programmer. Even though my skill in CF is not far behind his and Ive had no training. Shoots down any idea anyone ever has. Keeps me down - I have more potential than Im allowed to use. Im not even allowed to FTP even though Ive been doing it for years. Oh I guess thats what he does all day.

I find that they often have very little design or development skills, but instead are excellent in managerial operations.
In other words, they know how to push your buttons and get the job done.
I don't think I could ever be a project manager because I like experimenting with my designs and my programming. I also am not very good at sucking up and kissing ass!

we have three guys at my office. i take on the role as "production manager" mostly cause my other two guys hate answering the phones and dealing with clients.
project/production managers should be there to help ease the burden of the designers by taking care of all the bull shit clients spit out.
long story short, i love my designers and creative people. just wanted nt peeps to know that not all managers are dicks :)

They have meetings and discusss... stuff. I don't know what they do, but I always got along well with mine. They're usualy the ones that give me more disk space or the software I want.
Except one or two who were like "Pay allegiance to the art lead, you must obey! We don't really want your opinion! We just said that to be polite. Worm! *whip-cracking sound*" But that's all in the past and maybe I was asking for it, who knows.
