Hang on - is the war really over?
They haven't found Saddam... They haven't found the weapons of mass destruction.
Shiites are celebrating but the rest of Iraq is still reportedly anti-US, not to mention the arabic world at large.
The difficulties of rebuilding a region that has seen its infrastructure devasted by war on top of 12 years of sanctions have not begun yet, and this is where the war really needs to be won.
Is this another case of pre-emptive reporting? Another moral-booster for the troops?

They have had their water supplies bombed and their hospitals have had no water for days either so they probably are cheering for that.

Can something unconfirmed be apparent? It's one of those words that journalists like to tack on to sound smart...like "allegedly", which I think would've fit better in this statement.
