what's interesting too, is that thier 'brown' commercials have been pretty nice... me thinks.

speaking of attempts at brand rejevenation, I really lovee those hp television spots, with colorful little plus marks, curved bands, etc. animating over film footage

That logo used to make me smile, it was kinda fun for such a corporate service...

so sad - the previous logo was 40 years old too! they should have spent the $$ improving their service - everything i send ups gets smashed... o well at least they didnt just lens flare the old logo and charge 20 million for it hahaha

I think you're all over reacting a bit. Corporations don't fit in the 80's Atari, mini pixel, or abstract 3D style that some might see as "new wave".
I think the new logo is a cleaner, more modern version of the old one. It's not that much different from what they had, other than loosing the bowtie package above.
As for the "lens flare".... it's really just a bit of lighting effect to give it a bit of depth. I'm sure they'll have flat versions of the logo as well.
So there, I'm the only one that likes it... and that's ok with me.

Those brown commercials were great.
That is a little messed up.
Rand made some of the great logos ever.

"its a button" - brilliant

i will admit, it is easier on the eye at about 30x40px.

i like it too. tell me you wouldn't kill to have worked on that project? don't slam it or futurebrand, because they are they ones who impressed UPS the most obviously and UPS were the ones who chose to rebrand, NOT futurebrand.

there is so much wrong, just technically with it. the type doesn't fit in the space, the typeface looks squashed to fit and has some fucked curves and angles to it. The spaces and line widths are to small to work well at small sizes.
UGGHHHH

thats a disgrace - its gonna be like ABC when they tried to rebrand - they always end up going back to rand's original design..

What lens flare?
Are we looking at the same image?
I see no circular abberations, only gradation and bevel.

I like it!

I liked ABC's rebrand. This one doesn't work for me. I guess I'm old school.
