im with blue tree. and i like it. this isn't an over kill on the filters. theres far worse out there!
no wonder theres so much bloody nostalgia/retro crap around.
hows can we move forward if designers (people shaping our landscape) are still wanking over a design from the 60's? (not that i don't appreciate mr rands great work).

this is sad, very very sad ... i feel lost and confused

a little background about the new look.

seems to me that anything not designed by some 13 year old swedish kid with a knack for pixels or vectors or whatever lame way "web designers" try to pass themselves off as "graphic designers", must obviously suck. i mean give me a fucking break, we are talking corporate logo design to its extreme extent. i'm not saying it is necessarly good, but damn...get over yourselves. get back in your cubicles.

actually it was the martin agency in Richmond that did the logo. the other company did the site. they may be some how connected, not sure. i'm sorry to say i'm in the same town as the designers, even applied there.
i'm thinking acorn.

"Thus the term "Synchronized Commerce" was developed to define the expanded category in which UPS competes." hahaha DOOD people will buy anything!!

thats exactly what it is - its a redesign - not a rebrand - they've lost the brand that came with the old parcel based logo - that just stylised text..

i declare war on any designer who likes this new look ...

...before I get back to my cubicle, oh wait, I don't have a cubicle. I don't think its as terrible as some of you feel...but the new logo does seem a little pedestrian to me. I don't think it has the energy of the original and I too feel that the UPS type looks crammed into that space.
Clearly there is only one Paul Rand. sigh.

but they were probably paid rather well so......good for them.

you're all overlooking the fact that the "United Pot Smokers" shirts have to be redesigned.

"For even greater visual impact, the shield gained a three-dimensional appearance."
Brilliant. Hit me in the face like a truck. Not.

i like it, but what do i know.
where is this lens flare yall mention, i just see some gradient work.

I skipped half the posts on this thread to say this.
I like it.
I really don't think the logo will always have a lens flare, bevel and dop shadow. They just applied it here so people WITHOUT design backgrounds would get more excited about it than had it been a flat 2 color logo.
So looking at the logo in it's simple 2 colors it's cool.
Could have done worse (Verizon)
also... going to search NT for that site that reviews logo redesigns of different companies. They might have one for ups. anyone know what site that is?
- taragee0
all i'm saying is the previous logo was over 40 years old and didn't look dated - this "logo" ALREADY looks dated - i'll be surprised if it lasts 40 months...
- mrming0
Just look at the logos next to each other on the page. Paul Rand will be spinning in his grave.
- mrming0
Sorry here's the direct link - damn frames!

agree it does look more like a security company logo but i still like it.
