Why are macs so expensive?

It's not just 'style'.... I value good Industrial Design, good interface design, and will pay for it.

I made sure I had the caveat "not all of you" included in my statement. think of the soccer mom that just had to have an iMac in her kitchen because it matched her blender. I know women like that.

Is this what you get for that price
in my school they bought 20 new generation G4. If you switch them all on you can't even hear what the teacher says. Maybe we should buy a amplifer and a microphone, does apple sell them designed too ?it's just amazing how loud they are. (for a mac)

The OS is why I use the mac and always has been. OS X is mush better and a year or two ahead of Window XP.
Just because it is pretty as you say shoes how mush hard-work and detail apple have put into making this great systerm.

I went to university for three years, there i heard the back and fourth banter of MAC vs PC, and the whole time i held my tounge, and kept my mind open, while everyone else argued. This was quite a while ago but at the time the G4s were the top of the line and oputnumbered the PCs 20 to 1. My decision in the end... PC. They are more reliable, but more importantly more predictable, and far more open in their options of workflow. You pay more for industrial design (am i alone in thinking that they're ugly by the way?) and the OS is okay but its not superior to winblows, just as good if not a little behind when it gets down to a time efficiency issue... which is sad becasue apple made huge leaps in interface design along time ago, now they seem to be obsessed with pointless glossy effects that don't help them to be usuable above an entry level. Its great that they cater for the uneducated but once you understand the way the system works it becomes frustrating, because you know there is a better way, and that better way costs half the price.

mac looks nice, i love to have one, but they seem to crash about 25 times more often than my pc
