i think that all that about the us supplying saddam with chemical weapons is propaghanda. and why do you think the kurds are waring against saddam? because the realize his regime is tyrannical and they are trying to make a better life for themselves.
and my point still stands about saddam and his use of chemical weapons. if he is willing to use them against an entire village of innocent people, what makes you think that he would not do the same to another city? he is unstable and irrational and needs to be removed, plain and simple. he is a threat.___mje

pfff... that is a completely unfounded remark about the US. it is not a theocracy. it is a democracy with a bold acting leader.

I won't argue that religion doesn't play a part in all of this. In the US a church doesn't rule our policy, a spoiled ex-cokehead son of a millionaire does. Unless you consider that the "Church of Rush Limbaugh"?

Bully.

i was referring to all this..
"One nation under God"
"God bless this.."
"God bless that"
"So help me God"
It really annoys the hell out of me, damnit!!

And isnt that the way the world should be? Or do you honestly believe that Democracy is the best answer for every society/culture? If we dont meddle in other's business ie. Grenada, Cuba, Vietnam...etc., then there is no problem. We have turned into the bully who not only has the biggest muscles but also believes they have the best mind. We have done this before, and are in the midst of doing it again. Sure, it may put a Band-Aid on the perceived threats of other countries, but 10 years from now we will be fighting another war for the opposite cause.
Both sides do not want US aid, they told us that during the Clinton Administration. Neither will be satisfied while another country is aiding their enemy. Walking away is the best answer. It's not our land, it's not our fight.
There are also many theocracies across the world that survive. Iraq adn Palestin and Israel are not theocracies by definition. They are just a country founded on religious beliefs, and so is the US.

what does this mean?:
"Not like you would here in Europe....fortunatly... "

I would like to react to just the subject of "follow your leader" and not the justification of this war.
At the extreme: Hitler took power over Germany and carried out a plan of word domination and genocide. There was little opposition to these actions and to this day people question why not. The German people will forever have to live with this.
I am not saying that Bush is on the same level as Hitler, but please notice what current legislation is being passed by congress while we are distracted by the war. It is our right and responsibility to question and keep questioning. This is not a music album, a form of artistic expression. This war affects us all. Kid Rock’s quote is both ignorant and invalid.
In terms of support, I support our troops. My dad went to Vietnam and returned home to no thank yous. These people are giving their lives to help pressure our way of life. I stand behind them but I will not blindly stand any cause, person, or government.

The US was founed by Deists not Christians. It is also my belief that it was not founded on a specific religion.
- o0o0
didn't read all the posts... but I just have to say
Kid Rock is a jackass, it's a stupid analogy. This is a democracy, we're all supposed to be involved in decision making.

Also, Theocracies don't work, history has shown us this. Remember the Ottoman empire?
- srvollmer0
Ottoman Empire? No, I wasnt around then. Point taken.
:)Treehorn, it was nice discussing this with you! I have to get some work done. Thanks for the intelligent conversation.
- J_Treehorn0
Same here srvollmer, take it easy.

hey virtu...
strong convictions you have mate.and while theyre pretty opposite of mine, i salute your right to have em.
however..
it's not propaganda..
the US really did sell the chemicals to iraq.
it's a fact..
and the US had absolutely no problem with how they ended up being used.
that also is a fact.
the same folks (rumsfeld and gang) that sold the crap to him (and their are TONS of photos of the two of them shaking hands and having a merry ol time) are the same ones that are supporting the war...which is prett hypocritical...
imagine frankenstein running around telling everyone how he 'knew' that the monster was evil, and that he had to be stopped..
well thanks alot jerkface...you made him....
the plans to invade iraq go way back...they have NOTHING to do with terrorism and 911...
nothing..
- virtu0
i agree that the iraq situation goes back further than 911. it is true but i dont think that it is a bad thing. the whole 911 situation just further backed up the plan.
like it or not, i feel that what bush is doing right now is the reason that he is in office. i dont think things like bush being elected are by coincidence. bush was put in office by a higher power than us, and i feel it happened for reasons we are now seeing. he is the man for the job. he is taking his stand as the leader of the world superpower, and i will admit that he has made some mistakes in office, but who hasnt? he has the heart for the job, he has a drive that hasnt been seen in american office for a long time. i stand behind him because i believe these things about him. no one convinced me of this either. i believe it no matter what bush does. it is something i believe, and in a sense it is above bush. it is hard to explain, and i am sure i will be made fun of for this, but screw it. just making my voice known.___mje

Is this a joke?
I dont't get it..
