I couldn't agree with her more.

it's sad they (celebs) have more of a voice then anyone else, but the have a right to their opinions.
the problem is that they can be very influential as many fickle people will gladly listen to what they have to say... i really hope for the fickle's sake that those celebs have really done their homework and know what they're talking about.
blind leading the blind is the last thing we need.

I just ordered my "Unilateral Imperialism Works" tshirt.

BUCKYBALL2, you would be kicked off from any mall in my country with that tshirt.

"I get severely irritated that stars feel their opinions are somehow better...than a demonstration of thousands."
Huh? Who said that? If anything when a celeb speaks out it only lends muscle to the demonstrating masses. What I'm seeing is that when a celebrity speaks out right now they're putting their career on the line. Sheryl Crow's career is on the line. Even the poor BMI chick who dared stand up to redneck Charley Daniels lost her job. Stars on the Grammys were told not to say anything or else.

Mitsu.
Bush is leading us. (if you want to call it leading)
How blind do we need to be?
and celebs don't have more say than anyone else.
You know who does have more say? Pro-War politicians, conservatives, and pro-war military analysts/critics and whoever else the pentagon can talk FauxNews into 'interviewing' make up about 80% of what's on the news and in the media.
Only recently (ever since the Feb 15 protests) has the media even made the anti-war movement visible.
Back in October 02' you only found pro-war on TV. Now the tides have turned. The truth is prevailing.
and thanks to people like Bill Mahr who tells it LIKE IT IS.

Who The Fuck is Janeane Garofalo
a fellow american.
why should I care what she has to say?!?
no one said you had too.
I know who she is, but I get severely irritated that stars feel their opinions are somehow better or more poignant than a demonstration of thousands
ihaven't seen one , not one, celeb come out and arrogantly state that their opinion was more important than anyone elses....
say, more important that John Q public...if you have a link, please, i'd like to see which celebrity did that...
i'm not being a smartass, if a celeb did come out and act like that, that would be pretty irresponsible...
what a lot of celebs HAVE said is that the american people are being manipulated..
and thats true..
anyone that's worked in PR or advertising could tell you that..
I worked in advertising for years, and it's obvious.
sit down with any creative director in any half decent ad agency, and ask what they think..
you'll find that they're pretty blown away with how effective the media has been in allowing everyday good people to totally accept lies and half-truths as 'THE TRUTH'...fuck her... and that entire Hollywood "A" list coalition.
they have every right to do what they please..
and you have every right to stop seeing their movies, and paying their way through life..If you ask me she's got a bee in her bonnet cause she can't get any work.
pretty sure she hasn't got a bee in her bonnet over not working...
which is kind of weird thing to say..
it's like name calling, when some one disagrees with you, you retort, 'well, you're just a fag anyhow..who cares what you think'if there's a bee in her bonnet, it might be that she disagrees with the leadership of the country...
anyhow..
you've got every right to not like her..
if you don't dig intelligent females that voice their concerns and have an opinion that isn't ready made for entertainment tonight, all the power to ya..personally, i think shes great.
but thats just my opinion.

so many armchair generals that would faint at the site of blood.
Be a man. Practice what you preach and GET A GUN and go over to Iraq and kill civilians if you feel so strongly about this.
or do you not have the bucky..balls?
You would soon find that it is nothing like Halo, metal gear or whatever game you think this is.

"and celebs don't have more say than anyone else."
oh yeah, what channel was your voice aired on?
- Bluejam0
Being a celebrity is a label.
Being a human being is not.If someone has something to say, who are we to judge if they can or can not. And if they are in a position to say something...good for them.
Since we're all into this Internet Kutlure™ that demands people visit our sites, read/listen/watch what we, as independant authors, say it's somewhat...contradictory, ignorant and stupid to question who can or not say what they believe in.
Listen.
Then judge.
And show some respect.

answer:
You know who does have more say? Pro-War politicians, conservatives, and pro-war military analysts/critics and whoever else the pentagon can talk FauxNews into 'interviewing' make up about 80% of what's on the news and in the media.and you were talking about leading the blind yet I have to repost for you.
In this world of politicians doing whatever the hell they want, I view actors and anyone else who is not a politician as the little man.
Don't you remember the hollywood "communist" blacklists of the 1950-60's?
Freedom to speak our minds is EXACTLY what the govornment doesn't want.
again....as I said earlier...pro-war people are reaching for anything they can get in light of the pro-war campaign falling to pieces.
- mitsu0
"it's sad they (celebs) have more of a voice then anyone else, but the have a right to their opinions."
let me restate this:
it's sad that celebs have a greater voice than *most* people.
many more people would listen to sean penn rather than chomsky because *many* people don't know who the hell chomsky is.
someone give mike to carrottop... he's certainly entitiled to his opinion!
- mitsu0
jamesh, i agree with your statment, but this:
"and you were talking about leading the blind yet I have to repost for you."
shut the fuck up with your personal attacks.
- Buckyball20
"or do you not have the bucky..balls? "
that was actually pretty funny James. Regardless of your views, I think you are an upstanding guy.

....or it could all just be for publicity, dont rule it out.
- Jamesh0
bucky i wuv you too!
and mitsu.. think (and read) before you speak grasshoppa.
peace.
- mitsu0
"and mitsu.. think (and read) before you speak grasshoppa."
back at'cha.
it's your lack of respect for people with opposing views that hurts our ability to communicate. i like to think that i'm open-minded, but i cannot be swayed by someone who attacks me personally.
it's not asking much... just a little maturity.
- Jamesh0
mitsu..
well when you make me REPOST something I'm going to let you know about it.
what's the big deal. don't take it personally, afterall you are 'open minded' right? (i bet you'll take that as an insult too?)
- mrdobolina0
jamesh,
"I'll bet you'll take that as an insult too"
is pretty damn patronizing, dont you think?
