Bang Bang Shoot Shoot!
--
Joe Strummer once said in an interview, that back in the day of hunters and gatherers, we only needed 3 hours a day to take care of the essentials.
That left like 16 hours a day to make masks and dance around and shit.
How far have we come?

I think it's important to differentiate between happiness & joy. Happiness is based on happenstance; it's subject to change depending on the circumstances. True joy abides regardless of what's happening externally. I think most people lack true joy. I believe I've found it.
I also believe in a personal, cognizant God & "devil".

Joe Strummer was right.
I'd love to hunt a couple wild chickens, pick some berries, and then just make masks and dance around.
Maybe invent the wheel or something. But that's it... you don't want to invent anything more complicated than that. Then you'll ruin everything...

Happiness..... is a cigar called hamlet
happiness only lasts a few minutes. To be 'content with life' is what we are all aiming for... me anyways.

Happiness is waking up with some kind of idea what you want and what you need to do.

Joe Strummer was right. John Lennon was also right. (multicolored mirrors on my hobnail boots.)
You have to coach yourself to be happy sometimes. You have to remind yourself of what's good in your life when you start getting too bitchy.
If you're unhappy in work you can easily pick something that lets you help people. You can also do any kind of volunteer work you can think of. You don't have to try hard to get involved with that.
The nice thing about programming is that you can do it freelance or temp to keep yourself sharp. You've got some options.

this may sound cheesy, but if you want to make a difference, why not volunteer somewhere? i have a few friends that volunteer anywhere from one day to a few days a month and they look forward to those days. One friend goes to a children's hospital and draws for/with them. One helps out at a Ronald McDonald house. my roommate and i are looking into places we want to volunteer at.
i guess i can try to be good a few days each month >:)

Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; vanity of vanities, all is vanity and striving after the wind.
What profit hath man of all his labor wherein he laboreth under teh sun?
One generation goeth, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth for ever.......All things are full of weariness; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun....
