I played with this technology a while back. I created a kind of guestbook made out of clipart messages.
I called it hidden thoughts.

You're all over reacting. It's like media hype.
It's not a hack - it's a basic use of a script that MS IE ALLOWS. If the guy isn't using it to rip you off - leave him alone. I too would be thoroughly interested to see what's in other people clipboards. You're just jealous because you didn't think of it first...

but seriously, i can't think of anything that this script could be useful for. i mean, when you copy into a browser window (eg textfield) it doesn't use this function, so why at all implement anything like this?
but i'm curious and would like to know if anybody knows a real (and legal) use for this script?

Maybe someone wants a page to be only accessed by a link, and not via copy/paste so when it detects that it would act on that__
or wants to detect to see if you don't copy stuff from their site?
