yeah i missed the synchronization, browser compliance checking, and color coded scripting in notepad... is that going to be in the 2.0 version? Seriously, if you like hand coding so much, use the code view... personally i can't be productive at work unless i have something that has all or at least most of the tools i need in one app. As for hand coding, i hand code enough ASP scripting that i can't be bothered with simple html...

But if your not using Fireworks & Dreamweaver together, your really missing out. Photoshop is great for certain things, I use PS Everyday. But when working with site graphics (nave Buttons, Navsystems with multiple states, Drop Downs, Tiles, Headers, Footers, Panels, etc..) Im making Fireworks my bitch from the Dreamweaver Environment.
Thats what is great about Macromedias Suite, Everything works together & in most cases better than the alternative (Adobe PS).
Sometimes I still find myself using Image Ready, Mostly when Im workng on something old that was originally in a PSD.

And don't make me get started on Find & Replace & FTP Capabilities essential for maintaining large scale sites when uploading and updating. Dreamweaver is a workhorse.
I would also recommend learning all the extras..
Regular Expressions, Snippets, Developing Extensions, Creating Style Sheets. These are just a few things that make my day easier.

And By the way DreamWeaver MX's coding engine is directly from Homesite. So in a sense Dreamweaver MX is Homesite!

for years i used notepad. and then a friends of mine introduced me and homesite. and now macromedia bought it up. and that spells quality.
seriously, i can type html faster than i can type any regular language. i also do all the hardcore codinh (php, mysql, dhtml) in homesite and this is the only way to get to know your code.
the actual reason why homesite is so good is that it made handcoding a lot more comfortable. i couldn't imagine now searching through twenty different notepads or worrying about spelling mistakes.

ok, notepad is cool. its alot cooler now that it has the find and replace function...but seriously...unless you're typing at 200 words a minute, notepad is really a drag on time. its not like if you use dreamweaver or any other html editor, that you're ONLY using the design view. i use both views. if you like coding just with notepad, then use the code view in dreamweaver. but its really stupid searching thru lines of code for a td cell or finding that key line break. dreamweaver cuts time in half.
so i dont know where people get off thinking they are cool by designing in notepad. A. HTML is NOT a hard language to code in to begin with so don't act like you're getting props and 2. i can create a table with 16 rows and 190 columns in 2 seconds in dreamweaver that would take you 3 minutes in notepad.

Just looked at my Studio MX CD.
Actually Peter, "HomeSite+" is a separate application that's supposed to work hand-in-hand with DWMX.
It can be found in the HomeSite+ directory on the Studio MX CD.

i guess it's not good to compare DW with FP = ??? it's the same if u'd compare the day with the night ....
DW is one of the best tool to make websites.
