I wouldn't get the 35mm camera if you're not that much into using it manually. Go for the digital version. If you are very much into photography, get an SLR digital, which is in the price range of $1500 and up.
I'm not sure what a "2 Technics sl-1200 w/ mixer", so I won't comment.
1 gb of ram doesn't sound that expensive and if you need it, you'll have to get it eventually
Digital camcorders are the most fun and probably most expensive on your list. I got a Canon GL-1 and love it to death.

Get a Rane mixer for those 12s
1 gb ram is standard these days. Make sure its DDR or RDRam
I really like the Canon Gl2, The xl1s is just to much for my budget. You can't go wrong with either though.

yeah i know what you mean (i'm poor too). But i'm getting the $3200 Panasonic anyway, the picture quality is just too amazeing compared to any other MiniDv camcorder.
As to XL1, I think PD150 is cheaper and has better 16:9 capabilities (it uses whole chip). But no camera looks as good as XL1!

oh man, you people are way richer than my sorry ass.
anyway, yeah, I got a dcam already. sony s75. decent, but I want more detail and better control (slr rangefinder) and a better zoom. plus, I don't think I look intimidating enough with that camera.
looks like I can get a set of turntables and a mixer for ~$700 according to what I see on ebay... that's about my limit right there...
