funniest thread ever. where is k77 and fatoe when you need em?
i have so much to comment on these comments on hip hop culture, but i cant stop laughing...
i've been in it for a minute, urban is the new revolution.
funny that how i'm livin is suddenly mainstream culture... funny how 50 gettin shot and almost dyin is seen as cool.
he's not tryin to be cool for none of ya'll. he's tryin to live. he's the real deal and got out of the streets with his brains and his music. whether anyone you know listens or not. pac and biggie.... commentary on life on the other side of the tracks. a side the masses had never seen.
for along time urban music didnt appeal to the masses, only to peeps that looked like me. now in the new millenium, every kid knows the urban stars at the top of their game.
every kid rocks jersey's, listens to urban everything, reads the source, and starts threads like these....
juss so ya'll know, urban culture is here. poor peeps of all races rising out of their ghetto's and doing something positive has been happening ever since... marley was the first... 50 is the latest.
marley to 50. poor people rise up. juss know that none of these ghetto superstars wanna get dead. when ya got nothin, you gotta do something to live.

carty: i hear what you're saying, i for one wasn't sensationalizing 50's hard life by starting this thread...more just seeing what others think of his new album.
do people really think living in projects or being shot at is cool? this is new to me, then again i have been into the 'urban' music scene for quite some time...far before it was considered cool...and guess what, i don't look like you.
- gcabral0
hey 2cent,
are you a 12yr old white girl? cause that's who will be hearing this album and others like it.
i give props to rap artists for sure. i'm 31yr old and like the old school stuff myself.
but it really trips me out to see jay z on mtv rappin bout his bitches in front of these teenage white girls in the crowd. not to mention the young fellas as well.
no doubt this stuff is mainstream. rap has been mainstream for some time now.
but the media is giving this gangsta type rappers way too much power.
what happened to the tribe ya'll.. leaders of the new skool??
when i hear eminem.. it shocks me.. i give him props for his style and such.. but damn.. the content is harsh.. reality or not.
he talks about killing his wife.. and then these little girls go out and buy the albums..
amazing..
we are doomed as a society..
we will destroy ourselves if we don't destroy the planet first.

education... love that...
i'm from the old school as well... 32.. gulp. but been involved in the urban scene since 1990, and before with the music... i listen to everything... rock to reggae to hip hop to r/b to radiohead.... but i am just pleased that ghetto people are rising up... whether i like EM or 50 or not... i love the fact that they are mainstream... i love the fact that every kid knows them...
i dont care if cats are white black or green... i just think we are all the same... what they use to divide us now is economy, cashflow, money. its where your heart is that counts... gcabral has good points, it seems we will blow up the earth first anyways.... 2cents... white or black... you're educated, you dont talk shit and you own your opinions... respect.
- unknown0
are you kidding me? this guy is corporate garbage not even to be considered music.
- 2cents0
hahaha...good one gcabral...good one!
if you opened your mind a little you would find that groups with a message like that of tribe and l.o.n.s. do exist today and are making more waves on the 'mainstream' front.
go look up...
Ugly Duckling
J5
Black Eyed Peas
Blackalicious
Latyrx
L.A. Symphony
Dialated...just to name a few

--disclaimer--
this is all my personal opinion. please do not get all crazy sending me emails. thanks!
:050 cent is horrible. if you by the fucking cd on cd now it says: if you like this album also try: ja rule, j-lo remixes, etc. THIS IS NOT MUSIC...
people! please! live a little. become leaders, not followers.
- 2cents0
respect carty
- gcabral0
i hear ya...
i like J5 and Dialated a lot...
i'll give those others a try too..
and i'm a 31yr.. (32 april 4) white boy from the bay area..
i like the positive stuff..
although i did hit up the boys in the hood show in like 1987.. hahaa.. nwa, whodini, utfo, hammer, cool j, salt n' pepper.. man.. those were the good old days.. ahhaaha
happy to say i've seen RUN DMC at a small club too.. not to mention the tour with the beasties in the 90s..
i have little respect for those thug rappers.. EM and all the rest.. sure they got rap skills.. but big deal.. it's what you do with it..
it's no different than putting great minds together to build a bomb that may kill...
- kpl0
lastone, stop preaching. I can same 50 more underground rappers than you can and I'm diggin 50. stop hating the mainstream just cos it's mainstream.
- kpl0
same -> name
- gcabral0
i don't hate it cause it's mainstream. i hate it cause it's poor content.
reality or not.. i don't think society benefits from lyrics about murders, drugs, booze, wife beating.. etc....
and there is no way to stop the young ones from hearing it.. the media will never let that happen.. they saturate the market till everyone knows about it. i can honestly say i've never even heard a 50 cent song.. i just checked out the thread cause i heard some talk about him and his thug life.. and how cool it is.. i heard him on stern..
soon rappers will be rapping about the holacaust and hiroshima..
and somehow that will be cool..

- ok_jason0
Not sure what everybody is all freaking out about..? 50 cent as been around the mixtape scene awile...in fact he is coming up the same way EM did back before he met dr dre. He has that 'right now' shit that makes a hit a hit. like craig mack's 'flavor' or busta 'who hah!'.
And if you really hate 50 cent..be sure to play all the Nas on the main stereo...it is no good either. sellouts!
- kpl0
nas no good? them's fighting words. i'm afraid we're going to launch into a flurry of incredible violence if we meet, ok_jason. nothing personal.
but I understand people mad at 50 for his moral bankruptcy. to a point. to glorify wrong things is morally wrong. but if you want to insert effects-on-children and general end-of-society rhetoric, I need to throw a flag.
- ok_jason0
kpl...either i said it wrong..or you got it wrong. :)
nas, 50 cent, em, big l..jeru, j5, dilated, ...hey
we are on the same beats. i was trying to warn people to stay away from the real shit...
- kpl0
oh, that's good. yeah, I try to avoid flurries of incredible violence whenever I can. peace!
- Spire0
"im into havin sex im not into makin love so come gimme a hug!"
hahahahaha!!!!!!
this guy needs a hug.
50cent sucks cock. whats even worse, mtv is comparing him to 2pac. WTF!?
- cocoboy1der0
50 cent is for the children.
the most unapologetically ignant rapper in a minute.
i'm feelin it. the beats are pretty dull for the most part (em cannot produce) but god, 50 is one funny ass dude.
- unknown0
I was waiting for Frankie to drop in here.
phew.
