yeah serpico, that was pretty wack. should we be listening to Judas Priest?
- mrdobolina0
there's is not much worse than a self-righteous undergound hiphop kid. except maybe dudes that only like britpop. Yup, they are worse.
also, the term 'hiphop' has become so diluted that it includes things like destiny's child and the new r. kelly shit.
Listen to the new Kool Keith, its pretty funny how they portray the music industry.
- freshmode0
self-righteous undergound hiphop kid? who?
for someone who likes kool keith, you should know better then to really think that destiny's child and r kelly are really a part of hip hop...
according to mtv linkin park is hip hop... that kat might be into hip hop, but a hip hop group they are not!
YIATCH
- mrdobolina0
but r. kelly is labeled as hiphop, that is my point.
the ship is sinking.

i'm still amazed at how many people got worked up in this thread.
everyone has their own opinions on music and not everyone is going to agree, and just because someone listens to 50 or any other thug (for lack of a better word) rapper doesn't mean that's all they listen to.
listen to it, give it a chance...if you don't like it then great...but don't judge based on what the media says or the genre it falls into.
and i'm sure you're all aware that 50 and rap music are not the only ones 'corrupting' the childern of today.
- cocoboy1der0
hahaha @ freshmode.
these backpackers kill me.
i'm gonna play jay dee's "the $" in honour of your wack, stuck in 1994 ass.
- cocoboy1der0
you from california aint you fresh?
- kpl0
you didn't prove nothing fresh, except your elitist backpacker attitudes. yeah, I'm smarting over your implication that I'm ignorant.
Really, shoting "you ignorants" all the time does make you look rather elitist, don't it? That you're morally more righteous than 50's fans?
and don't talk about hating when you are yourself.
I bump 50, common, the roots, robbie williams, miles davis, DJ tiesto and gouryella in my ipod. Let me know if that's supposed to mean anything.
- mrdobolina0
hiphop is too vague a term these days for the masses.
- freshmode0
Not to mention they are corrupting our generation.
..
Why should we give 50 a chance. MTV, the radio and every other media outlet that can, has forced us to listen. It suck!
Just for the records, I'm not worked up.
Sure, you might listen for shits n giggles, but there are people out their, the majority that do listen, that try to portray. Just go to your local mall. You will see the influence they have. That is where my point comes to play. There is always a few that do not fall into that catagory, but the majority does. That is what is sad.
Like I said, rock some headphones and ignore what happens in the mainstream.
For those who like it, word up, for those who don't, fresh.
I think JUICE put it real nice when he said,
"... and if you got so much loot, put out your records on your own."
deadprez said
"... mc's don't go platinum, record labels go platinum."
The whole point of "gangts rap" and the "thug" image is still ignorant. Doesn't matter if you like the music or not. You can't front on the fact that these katz are ignorant for being that way.
Then again, we all need a bit of "street credibility" in our lives right?
yeah ok...
YIATCH!

fresh prolly discovered rap in 97 with rawkus.
i guess g rap, schooly d, nwa, ice t, scarface aint hip hop cuz they aint rappin about frankincense, peace and love, and breakin dancin for 14 songs out of an album.
"what can you tell me about hip hop, you in your late teens?" kriminul, jigmastas
- cocoboy1der0
wow, are you a part of the clergy or hip hop?
since when has hip hop been about saving the youth exclusively?
backpacker revisionism.
- 2cents0
kpl: it means you have broad range of interest when it comes to music!
;P
- kpl0
"You will see the influence they have. That is where my point comes to play."
You sound like some knee-jerk conservative trying to ban rock-n-roll in the 50's. Here's an idea. Next time you see one of these kids, why don't you go and talk to them? Why do they listen to what they do? What do they gain by listening to that stuff?
Ok, maybe you shouldn't just go approach people at a mall. But talk to them. Go be a youth mentor or something and get to know them. These kids are not impressionable and mindless. they have a specific desire from this stuff. 50 is providing it, and they're eating it up. But what they're after is not self-destruction, believe it or not.
You're sitting on park benches, looking at people, and assume stuff. that don't work, homie. that's ignorant.
- cocoboy1der0
everyone should bump dc talk, will smith, and blackalicious or you ain't hip hop.
cuz they are out to save the children.
- kpl0
well, yes. I am very broad. It also means I have dreadlocks, play guitar, read heavy intellectual books, and take lots of E at raves alot.
- cocoboy1der0
sound like a hipster.
- kpl0
and I'm always strapped with a handgun, can of spray paint, and noam chomsky.
- cocoboy1der0
thas hip hop right there!
- freshmode0
Yes coco... you got me their.. I am a backpacker...
and yes.. once again, you got me, I am stuck in 94 and from cali...
Yes I think I am more righteous then 50's fans... moron.
And sorry for the misspelling. Please forgive me.
Regardless of all that, your ignorance has kept you blind from the point I made.
Like I said, bump 50 all you want. It isn't going to make my life any better or worse. I choose to surround my self with good music. Why? Because I am righteous... Because I would rather listen to good positive music then lame ass shit like what 50 spits.
The things he says, do not relate to me. Nor do I want them around me. Does that mean I am self righteous? Nope. Just means I would rather listen to other shit.
If they relate to you. Then play it all you want. If it doesn't, then keep playing it as well. My comments were not directed towards anyone, you just made them official. They were general. Playing devils advocate doesn't change the fact that 50 sucks ass, so does his camp and so does almost everything on the radio or tv.
it's a choice people make on their own. Regardless, that lifestyle is ignorant.
I suggest we keep breaking the rules. After all, how fun is it to bump something positive?
