critique logo please

client is in the entertainment business needs a new logo. wanted the "i" in basic to be a hand holding a mic. likes? dislikes? ideas? changes?

if you have to solve the microphone idea, i would combine the second and third versions. keep the type legibile but add the microphone/hand above the I. i kind of prefer a type only treatment though.

I'd put a bit more effort into the mic, it needs a bit more crafting, dont neglect the typo either, the 'productions' bit looks a bit ropey at the mo. the colour is a bit weak and the spacing on basic is out.
not too far off being ok though.

I woulda done something with the 'c' rather than the 'i'. The 'c' could be more entertaining (shouting!) and would be a better letter to illustrate.
I agree with the abizzyman, first thing i saw was a bulbous head and....you get the picture?

i've noticed when logos are posted to be comented on there are just 5 variations of the same concept. Do you present your clients with this? Shouldn't you show other ideas?

the integrity of the type and the logo in relationship to eachother will be lost at small sizes, make the mic more simple or lose it.
perhaps, use type only, but modify a stem from one of the letters as a mic, maybe imply it but not so literal.

told ya!! You know... 'dong's' have been mixed into this kind of stuff for years in advertising... perhaps this isn't a bad thing... if your ethics and conscience allow this kind of thing. ;)

After doing a double take on the logo...
...and the use of the heavy weight for the word 'basic'. It might be better off doing a pastiche on the 'HOLLYWOOD' (letter's on the hill).
That would help convey 'entertainment'.
