when it comes to seeing bands like avail Ive found its the same thing same faces... everyone there is like 27-33 and have seen them a million times... like me! I sooo appreciate knowing I can go to see certain bands and get the same thing I got 8yrs ago. Add in adult schedules and you just dont have time to mess around with louzy shows!!

when did punk rock become so "metal"
- ********0
punk rock became metal when all the happy punk OC/Valley faker bands entered the scene around 90-91. basically happy punk like NoFX and Strung Out and all those OC type lames got big amongst the suburban scene. These were you ex members of glam metal bands that tried to front as the new punk rock because it was popular.
That's when bands like Earth Crisis, Strife and SnapCase turned to a truly raw hardcore sound with a metal edge to separate themselves even more from the old and tired punk sound. they just kept going, trying to "out metal" each other.
the album Firestorm was a monumental twist in Hardcore music. Unfortunately bands like Limp Shitstick and Seven Dust tried to bite the ultra metal sounds and add their own OC whiteboy rap crap to it but the major difference was that they basically sang about nothing important.
some of that rap crap was Rage's fault... they actually sang about political shit though at least. I loved Inside Out and Hard Stance so much more... but at least Zack was rapping about important shit.
where the fuck is that guy now? why is he silenced?! Just one track with DJ Shadow?

I saw the Get Up Kids at a 50.000 ppl festival last year.
Think that was the end of it all.
Seems to me the scene has been repeating itself since 95

Melbourne Hardcore has been pretty much dead since 1999, Im sure there's still a scene around but I mean I grew out of it long time ago... it's kid's stuff y'know?

firestorm was sick. still got that shit in my mp3 rotation.
Inside Out was sick too when they came out... man where is the true hardcore scene today? I hope the kids are still rockin it.
