Fact of the matter is, the United States is following international law. The snafu with Iraq and the international community comes down to France and Germany being scared by a harsh dictator. We, the U.S., don't have to consult the U.N. to invade Iraq, and only have done so for P.R. purposes. The truth is we signed a treaty with Iraq after the gulf war, and once Saddam broke the contract multiple times, by international law, we have the right to re-engage.

Speaking of International law... which the US constantly breaks..
The UN does not recognize the 'No fly zones'.
and on another note, Saudi Arabia will not benefit by the US taking Iraqs oil. The US will be much less dependent on Saudi oil for quite a few years after taking Iraqs oil.

Invivio, I'd suggest you read again.

What country would step up to the plate for Iraq?
- InVivio0
Here's where I went wrong, you're referring to the US failure to ratify the "International Criminal Court", ok.
4cy, Just so you know, that's not where Milosevic and Milutinovic are being tried. There are many war crimes tribunals all over the world, the ICC isn't the only one.

on another note :

That is supposed to be this court here in The Hague!
They even accepted a law to invade us when a US military will be tried.
Milosevic and the likes are on trial here....nowhere else.
- pocho0
Jamesh mentioned it...i'm surprised it took so long.
It's all about the oil. Iraq a threat to the region? Perhaps. To the US? Hell no.
There is so much more evil in the world...thousands die in Rwanda...what does the US do? Nothing. Not a good oil source.
It's the oil, pure and simple.

The dept of the U.S is SO high that all people HAVE TO pay 1.7 mill dollar a year to pay the rent ! (to give a indication how high the dept is!)
All those wars just camouflage the ploblems the country has.
The U.S used to produce cars, TV's microwaves ETC. and they were rich .. it still looks like its a rich country, but thats just fake , the dept is getting insane higher every year .. Fabriks are moving to lower salary country's and people losing there jobs. If they keep ignoring there problems then there will be a big difference between rich and poor.
The only hoop they have is invase Irak and stealing all there oil !
Having a big army and drop around boms doesnt mean you are a powerfull country .. its more a tool to take the worlds eyes away from the probems, pretend that you are powerfull with your bombs and even give the people work in the weapon industry.
Give food to your own people first and a normal insurance before focusing on external problems.
Somebody stop bush !!

Jamesh,
If you don't think Saudi Arabia will profit from war, you should consider that they will reopen thier border with Iraq once it has been stabilized and the sanctions have been lifted. Most experts are saying that OPEC nations will benefit because they will drive down the price of oil again and take back marketshare from non-OPEC suppliers.

fuckin A 4cy
all wrong
- ********0
maybe we better worry bout this:
- unknown0
I dunno the biggest potential OPEC producer is Iraq
- ********0
oh and insert cynicism in last post...
- InVivio0
We'll see what happens with the ICC, they start electing judges this February. I doubt anymore countries will endrose it, they've been fighting over it's potentail abuses since the Clinton years.
Kingkezza,
Iraq is an OPEC member already.
- unknown0
yeah I know that, am saying that an american controlled oil producing country is not in OPEC's interest, esp as its their biggest. The US will dictate world oil prices
