I think the US is betting that they won't, since they don't care for Saddam either. Besides Saudia Arabia, and Pakistan will also profit from the removal of the Iraqi regime. Also, I think the US looks at this as a way to intimidate Iran as well, considering they included them in the "Axis of evil" grouping made in Bush's infamous speech. This is an assertion of dominance as well.

the possiblity of the rest of the arab nations getting involved militarily is pretty remote i think..

how many did you see jump up the last time...i think what you'll see is most likely a re-drawing of a lot of lines on the map

a lot of dead people
and several new oil distribution deals.but once again...the rest of the middle east isn't going to sacrafice it's self on saddams behalf..
i think they have a lot of sympathy for the people there..and definitely a lot of feelings that muslims are getting a pretty raw deal...
but i don't think theres much love lost between any of the major stake holders there..
iran, iraq, saudi, jordan, egypt, et. al.

Its a fair point, but I think if the US just go in, then its giving an excuse for China, Russia to have a pop at who they dont like.
Basically it completely undermines the UN and as a body, it cant possibly continue exerting any influence over the world.
just sets a v bad precident I think.

And just yesterday I saw on the news the US ordered to hand over Mladic to the WarCrimes Tribunal here in The Hague, or else they would pull their peacekeeping forces out of there...
And the US wants to be excluded from any war trial on it's own people or they threat with a military invasion in the Netherlands...
