I think the US is betting that they won't, since they don't care for Saddam either. Besides Saudia Arabia, and Pakistan will also profit from the removal of the Iraqi regime. Also, I think the US looks at this as a way to intimidate Iran as well, considering they included them in the "Axis of evil" grouping made in Bush's infamous speech. This is an assertion of dominance as well.
