Does anyone recall the old Chucks ad they used to run in the skate mags?

Christian Hoisoi in the middle of a handplant, with the caption:

    "Every artist needs his canvas."

i think the website is quite good actually.

as for nike invading skateboarding... i havent picked up a skateboard in years now, but nike started making hockey skates and equipment a while back, and years later, all their stuff still sucks. it all breaks down and falls apart. pros use it because theyre paid too, but noone who buys their own stuff goes near it (unless its cause they think its 'cool')... so maybe they wont be such a big threat afterall.

did i dream this some years ago or did nike try to do the whole skate show thing already and fail miserably? funny commercials back then, but yellow fuzzy skate shoes?? i think not. didnt they also try to sponsor tony hawk and he told them to get tossed? i dont know, the way i see it, anybody who is gonna buy nikes has problems of their own. i mean come on, air force ones werent really that cool back then and they sure as hell arent cool now. if some hip japanese magazine told you all that wearing man sandles was hip now, you'd probably be buying those too....or clogs! ugh. blah blah blah why do i even log into this thing? oh yeah, i have to keep up on what the kids are doing so i can complain about it.

think a lot of you are still holding on to the notion that skateboarding is still counter culture. which it totally isn't.

skateboarding is a large demographic, that holds many sub genres within it. You have the old school punk wannabes, the wannabe hip hoppers etc

a lot of the dudes on the team might of been rocking dunks on their off time anyway. plus, the vast majority of skate shoes look totally like nike rips anyway.
