i will say one thing, i sort of agree on the huge Expidition or Excursion suburban-like trucks/suvs, but the mid-range ones like the 4-runner, the montero, X-terra or the Jeep grand cherokee really aren't much different than your average 4-door sedan. most of the aformentioned mid-ranged SUV's are 4 or 6 cylinder engines and if you're like me and have more than just 1 friend and are active in sports/hobbies that involve toting snowboards/ mountain bikes, etc, an SUV is
actually a great vehicle.

I won an acceleration battle once from a good regular VW Golf.
I have driven already in 3 Smarts in my life...none of which was my own...and I definatly want one.They are fast enough, and who needs to go faster here? What's that for? It drives a good 135km/h enough for most roads here...
It has a brilliant audiosystem built in....looks sexy...and you can park it everywhere...even vertical...
Oh, and about the space, your remark is (sorry, jox I like you but have to disagree this time..) absolute utter BS! The first time I stepped into a Smart the dealer put the chair waaaay backward (i am 7ft2) but I needed to pull it a bit forward again to comfortably reach the pedals with my feet. Talking about space! I have PLENTY of room for my head in this car as well.......A true responsible miniSUV... :)

btw I don't need a SUV here since we have no mountains, we have good infrastructure. And try to park a SUV in Amsterdam or any other big place here.... People look so silly in it here. Really.
Ok, living in Colorado is a different thing.....tho it seems you can drive around there on a tiny lil' scooter as well (see Dumb&Dumber) hehehehe

Anyways, I guess I must've driven a Smart with a shitty engine then, because I had trouble to keep up on the highway. Hey, get one of those Brabus-Smarts btw, i hear they have like 200 HP in that lil thing.

if you don't need an suv, there is no reason to have one.
Some of us live in places with wide open countryside lots of woods and mud.
Some of us do things on weekends other than sit in a tiny apt. playing playstation.
Like load up my dogs and gear and pull the boat out to the lake for some skiing.
Hey and all my friends can fit in it too, imagine that.
