I think a lot of "dezingers" are moving out of our industry because the were never in it for the love in the first place. I know I might step on toes but it is true. For whatever reason, in the past five years so many people have decided to become web designers because it seemed like a glam lifestyle, lucrative and hip at the same time. I don't get it. If you wanted to be Ranger Rick then go right ahead, it seems you weren't in it for the love. I have invested three years teaching myself, staying up late, asking questions of peers, and reading tons of fucking books to saturate myself in graphic design and I would never dream of doing anything else at this stage in my life. Its my love, its a passion.

I do it for the love of it but have realised that in the proffessional world no one else hardly does, which is the shit bit, Ive been a designer for 8 years now, and frankly Ive had it with clients, restrictive briefs etc.
and at the end of the day I contribute fuck all to humanity, other than creating designs to sell shit like shell, or pepsi so I fancy a change, and enriching my life.
but good luck to you

........I still say"go for the fisherman..............

Isn't being a fisherman the most dangerous job in the UK? How about conservation? Probably have to go back to university for that though.

Yeah I know how you feel. I wanted to do this for as far as I can remember. But now that Im there... Not what I tought. Graphic design is as routine as any other job. I need change. I want to go to afganistan or something and help in the rebuild. Something meaninful. Live for something else than monatary gains. Thats my resolution this year.
