If you live in the US, do you like it? If not why?
I really wanna visit the place. Any recommendations?

NY, Chicago, Virginia and Connecticut(country side).
My favorite is Denver and all of Colorado.
Seattle is also super cool.

Colorado, Montana, Cali is fun,
The west coast has alot more scenery and things to do. I would take a tour around the west.... hit vegas, San Fran, head through portland and Seattle head through the Rockies in Montana Wyoming and colorado go snowboarding ... hit some bigger cali cities.. hit the beaches in cali, its fun...But yea.. there is so much to do.. you better plan a long trip even for just the west...

As an aussie that's live in Australia most of his life, live in UK for 6 months and now been living in the US for 2 years I'll give my 2c.
Whatever you know about Americans from TV and your encounters in the UK, ignore. Americans are loyal, friendly and very understanding good listeners (it's only when you make them travel around the world they act weird).
The reason I talk about Americans and not America is because people really do make a country. One thing you will find about the US is that every state or region is very unique - totally different culture/people/accents/lifestyle... The west coast is awesome - the people are more 'stuck up', the mid west they're a friendly bunch, but don't go out much and their aint much to do ;) East coast is more like London I guess - overcrowded, somewhat drab but lots to do. W
Whatever you do, the number 1 rule if you visit the US is to make sure you visit as much of it as possible to get a true feeling for this wonderous land.

Cheers Mick....glad you mentioned the people cos to be honest many of the American tourists in the UK can be very arrogant, and they seem to enjoy letting everyone know there American! No offence to any of you here....your all dam fine ;)

I just left LA for Connecticut. It is snowing here now and gorgeous outside. Not really a place to 'pass through', though.
LA, in my opinion, has nothing worth visiting (I lived there for 5 years, 3 at UCLA grad school), unless you have to see the Hollywood stars (that are very anticlimactic). The beaches are some of the ugliest and dirtiest I've seen. Go to Florida for beautiful beaches.
But San Fran is cool, and US 1 is spectacular. So is Portland and Seattle.
I'd drive up the coast, hit Yosemite, maybe even Yellow Stone, and those cities. It would be a trip I'd love to see again.
Oh, and try snowboarding at Mammoth or Lake Tahoe. Yeah, that sounds like a good time!

avoid everything in the middle except for Chicago, St. Louis, the Dakota's and Montana.
west and desert southwest is cool... all of the east coast is great. Don't forget about states that don't get much visitation like Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire... nothing but beauty up there.

First and foremost never judge people of a country by the way it's government acts. There are many, many, many, many, many, many great and beautiful people and places to see. I mean we can go from NY City to San Francisco/LA back to Miami then back to Seattle and in between. The fun you can have is limitless.

I would start in NY City if I were someone wanting to see some culture and style.

i live in the southeast US and it is absolutly beatiful country.
like anywhere, you get good people and bad people, but most of the southern people are very polite and very willing to take time to talk with you.
there are some incredibly bad, racist, ignorant, redneck fucks who dont like foreigners, but those people are not very well liked. and if you run into them... shoot them. please. (=

true there are a lot of ignorant people in USA. But that goes for anywhere. You will inevitably run into some when you are here, but 90% of people are great and polite. Even NY'ers, they are just in a hurry, that's their lives, it's not that they are ignorant.
