is there really such a thing as a
"dynamic ribbon?"

Its interesting how much money big corporations will spend to just kind of reinforce the power of their original branding. 2 years it took to come up with a look that is not all that different from the last one.
Coke ain't innovative, but its a great brand. Red colors and script type... They should pay me what they paid their agency to fart around for 2 years and deliver something only slightly different!
It would be an interesting project...

gravity - the company i used to work for landed this account and i had the opportunity to work on the intial concepts.
we tried everything under the sun as far as evolving the look of coke without bastardising the brand.
if any of you have ever worked in packaging you'll understand that the client RARELY strays too far from what it already has out there...usually a redesign only involves tweaking the current elements...which can be quite frustrating at times from a designers standpoint.

I saw a coke logo the other day and thought "WOW, a new coke logo" - funny thing is it looks nothing like the one in that article. Was much less script-like... Hmmm weird.

I agree... As designers we often want to re-invent the wheel and do it better because most of the people we look up to do that on jobs...
I bet that was an interesting project. I kind of imagine that it was more frustrating than fun...

i don't like that yellow bit they added.

gravity - it was actually a really fun job to work on...it was my office as well as other offices in our company (futurebrand) around the world working on initial concepts...it was really cool to see stuff from the other areas of the world.
i left the company before any of the final designs were being worked on and i'm sure it was quite frustrating at times...not sure which office ended up producing the final...could have even been one of the other studios that IPG (parent company that landed account) has ownership of.

I think it was a company in NYC that produced most of the final work. There are a ton of new logos they will be showing. Some are really nice and others are OK. They should have lost the "classic" from the can.

the yellow makes it look like mcDonalds.
I much perfered the little bit of green they had on their cans before
i do like the deeper red though, looks expensive!
