on top of their lack of anything resembling artistic merits while they try to force down my throat the most boring, banal and un-original PIG-SHIT, these movies might as well be GWB's personal guide to the universe:they are so pro-status quo, pro-millitary/industrial, pro-authoritarian, pro-right that it is perfect advertising for everything that is wrong with this here world of ours. they send messages to kids like: "if you disobey the rules you will grow up to be an evil person and regret it your entire life". they are rascist, fundamentalist, praises oppression, and justifies imperialism.
When I was 15 I dedicated my life to fighting the kind of thinking that made these movies possible. Perhaps one day words and images will no longer be enough...

my philosophy highschool teacher (psicologist/christian, comunist/historian) used to say things like this, but with a wierd twist.
he says all this movies are goverment conspiracies to brainwash us to what their plans are, and to train us for the new things in the future (like flying cars and flying skates) so we are not surprised once they come.
another one, he said, jurassic park will happen and the movie was to train us and to document our reaction.
i wouldnt be surprised if he thinks speilberg is a goverment puppet.
he hated me cause i kept telling him that all the ufo's were actually people from the future visiting us here in the past, he probably tought i was making fun of him, but i really believe that.

It's a classic tale, and the issues it deals with are not solely current, but are issues that have occured in government and society over and over again... aside from the jedi and spaceship parts.
The government is doing a good enough job ramping up support for it's objectives without having to resort to writting movie scripts.

You might hate rice, I might love it, you might love sprouts, I might hate them.
Or if you want to label imperialism as 'evil', then what is ultimately 'good'? Anarchy? Libertarianism?
I'm a Libertarian myself, but I acknowledge it has faults.. it's just the best system for *me*. I don't like Communism, but I'm sure for some people its fine and dandy.
Either way, the Constitution lets us put across whatever political opinions we want.. let the storytellers get on with it. You can quit watching the films, but don't piss on everyone else's parade.

I thought this was about imperialism, not consumerism...
obviously movies are made to cash in on consumers, movies are a for profit industry.

it is truly sad when 20 something males (mostly, I presume) in the creative field is this apathetic, lazy, and brain-washed. this is the kind of climate that gives rise to fascism.
