I just went outside my house to find my car got broken into. The bastards took my stereo, hiking boots, and sunglasses. I think it happened christmas eve. The f'ing bastards!
I feel violated...

And your gut reaction is to post a thread on NT?

getting mugged in the street is worse. I should know, my car got broken into twice and I got mugged once.
strangely, I just felt somewhat puzzled when I found a bullet hole in my car.

sucks, sorry, lots of times it has happened to me both in Queens, NYC and Pittsburgh, both areas were dodgy as hell!

two words:
boobietrap.
a couple punji sticks and a leaf covered tigerpit will teach those robbers a lesson they won't soon forget!

Dude, Nate.
My friend Brannon parked outside of CrashShop - went up into the studio for 5 minutes or less to get his monitor - came down - and his stereo was gone.
Apparently there's a nice little 'trick' for jettas that have the 'auto windows down' feature.
Jam a jimmy into the key column in the door - wrangle a bit and it downs all of the windows and unlocks all the doors.
Cute, huh?
His insurance covered it, though.
Still.
Bummer.
It appears there might be an epidemic.
Lock up that stereo.

I've got a ford explorer. All they did was bust open the keyhole with a screwdriver, pull the lever that controls the lock, and opened the door.
I'll have to see if my insurance covers the stereo because it's not stock.
Getting your stuff stolen is a real pain in the ass!

It happened to me twice. The first time was in Manhattan and they stole my the camera my dad used to use. He took pictures of our house being built in 1960 and of my brother and I as babies. They also took my stereo, money and two CDs. The camera was the only thing that bothered me though.

I could break into your cars in a millisecond. I was a bad boy growing up in Northside of Pittsburgh circa 1988-89. Was in the slammer for that kinda' stuff as a young buck. But believe me, locked car doors, especially American models are a joke to open. Sad, but true... ;)

Maybe you could share tips to help us make our cars more secure?
Obviously leaving valubles in plain site and not detaching the stereo faceplate are givens.

damn, that sucks.
how about this:
i go out to my car and i go around the passenger side to put stuff in and notice it's unlocked when i put my key in.
wtf. the carpet is pulled back on the floor of the passenger side. i look - my stereo is still there. i pop my hatch - my subs are there. my amp is there. up front, another amp and crossover are intact.
"hmm, that's weird."
i get inside and try to start the car - won't start. the hood is slightly ajar.
i pop the hood and my jaw drops.
FUCKERS STOLE MY DISTRIBUTOR. and the connecting electrical wire harness.
they knew exactly what they were doing, and were in and out in probably 3 minutes.
for those that have a Honda Civic Si, beware.

that almost as bad as coming out to your car to find that the steering wheel has been stolen.
i guess airbags are worth a lot of money or something.
- unformatted0
FUCKING BASTARDS!!!! no skiing tomorrow then huh?
- monNom0
!!!
a new airbag costs $1,000-$3,000!!!
no wonder they get stolen!
- unformatted0
maybe dad will buy you a new car now?!? i'll convince him. :D
- protoculture0
Yup, no skiing/snowboarding tomorrow. It's okay though, because I'd rather not be skiing in 60mph winds.
i know somebody that got their airbags stolen--they really are expensive to replace.
You never think it will happen to you, and then it does...
