i think you're getting to caught up in a bunch of hollow rallying points from the left. Your points all lack substance.
Bush 1 did not make Saddam an enemy. Saddam made Saddam an enemy when he invaded a neighboring country. Bush 1's mistake was to not overthrow his dictatorship when he had the chance. The reason we are "knee deep in the mix: is, one, the reason i just mentioned, but also because clinton the "thinker" they guy who "understands" (hence the term bleeding heart liberal) comes in for eight years and doesnt want to rock the boat so he lets rougue nations do as they please while he looks the other way (ie: chinese spies for campain funds).
we are a defensive country. but things have changed and we need to be pre-emptive this time. i ask you, how long do we wait? do we wait for saddam to develop nuclear weapons so he can blackmail the middle east. or do we wait for him to lob a biological war head into israel?
if a nuclear war head were to ever go off in a major US city do you think isolated terrorists would be able to create something like that on their own? it could only be supplied by a country with a rich dictatorship and a team of scientists controlled by fear
unfortunately we need to stop them before they get started. and this is quite certainly being done for the quality of life for all citizens. law makers and the average joe a like.
dont be easily convinced by the mis-led wit in the url that launched this thread

yawn... the left vs right debate goes round and round.
how about a party that respects civil liberties and wants to lower your taxes: http://www.lp.org
oh yeah they're against war too.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/btw that video could have used some facts to back up its blanket statements.

The whole "Saddam might give nukes to terrorists is stupid", Bin Laden might turn around and use it on him!, besides Fundamentalist wackos hate Saddam, there are Christians in Iraq, as well as Synagogues, (yes Jews live in Iraq). Saddam cares about Viagra, Gold and Power. His favorite movie is the freaking Godfather! He likes wearing Versace suits! Iraq is a secular country. More and more i keep thinking this whole thing is a setup and the real target is not Iraq, but actually Saudi Arabia or Iran, (students are rebelling in Iran as we speak) the "real" sponsors of terror. Iran is responsible for more American deaths than the whole world combined. Could be a setup man. Think about it.

Once again I really don't think you know what this is about!!! This is saying that know matter what happens..Be it BU$H or not, that there is still bright minds that fuel these lands, great minds can come together and fix what the ill- inteligent has created.

Barnburner, have you ever left United States in your life, spent some time in other countries, Europe, Asia etc. 70% of U.S. citizens never left the U.S.
You know what this means? That you don't know sh*t what you are talking about. You are receiving your information from stupid CNN (which in 90% of the cases misrepresents the facts). The foundation of the United States is liberty for all. Independence, freedom to live, right? So why the fuck does the U.S. government interferes in other countries.
One thing, everything that happens in the world is in one way or the other sponsored by U.S. government. Do you know that Osama Bin Laden was sponsored by CIA back in the day. And now when the horrible tragedy happened nobody mentions that. The whole Europe knows that. Why do you think everybody objects in attacking Iraq? You think because everybody loves Sadam. No my friend it's because if it starts with Iraq who knows what other country will be called "terrorist country" and attacked.
Who gave the right to U.S. to be the judge and the jury. If Iraq wants to bomb countries in Middle East it's their problem not yours, not mine. Would you like someone to come to your home and tell you what you can and can't do?
Finally, do you know who gives the weapons to those same Middle Eastern countries to fight each other? Yes, you guessed it.
Who gave Israel so much fire power that they totally annihilated Palestinians? If you know the history you'll know that Palestine is there for thousands of years. Do you think it's fair that Palestinians fight with rocks and sticks against choppers, tanks and the latest weapons that Israelis have, all thanks to U.S. And then they are called terrorist when a 6 year old kid, with his parents killed by Israelis, carries a whole shit of explosive and blows himself up.
I totally agree that there are sooo many good people in the U.S. that realize these things and want to give honor back to American people, but as long as there are short minded people in the U.S. they will have trouble rising.
And I think that Bush I and II are the worst presidents U.S. ever had. Without any knowledge of diplomacy. No wonder Canadian officials called him an idiot.

Boz, i couldn't agree more.

LMAO
Read Robert Baer's book: See No Evil: The True Story of a Ground Soldier in the Cia's War on Terrorism
It's amzing how you jackasses view the U.S. as the bad guys, not these fundamentalist animals who stone women to death.

I'd just like it interject that prior to the gulf war, iraq had the best womens rights of any arab state.
They were allowed to vote and received an 'equal wage for equal work'. Their rights certainly weren't at the level of present day United states... but they were on their way.Secondly I'd like to point out that war is almost ALWAYS about land or resources, or both.
Nazi Germany tried to expand to gain more resources. The japanese attacked america because we shut off their oil.
It all boils down to one side wanting what another side has. It's pretty ignorant to dismiss the quite obvious oil based motivation for attacking iraq. undoubtedly there are other reasons for the war other than the fact that iraq has 11% of the world oil. But that one fact is right in your face, and how you can just discount it makes very little sense to me.
The oil thing may be "played out", but that doesn't make it any less true.
as for the united states being attacked: yes you were, and you killed 50,000 people in afganistan to reciprocate. What does Iraq have to do with any of that? NOTHING!
they tried and tried, but couldn't find anything to tie iraq in with the events of 9/11.
- unfittoprint0
Iraq: the war they can win.
North Korea: the war US won't win.
Al Qaeda: The war they should win, but they don't know how.
Saudi Arabia: The war they don't want to engage in. But they should.

breaking news:
-- Former Vice President Al Gore will not run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, CNN has learned.
- i_monk0
The US is screwed up and is spreading it around the world, which was screwed up enough before Bush 2.0.
This isn't a left vs right issue, and it's not a corpse for libertarians to peck at.
- i_monk0
Pointing out the evils of the US, past and present, does not mean you love burqas and fanatical theocracy...
Perhaps if you took a break from demonizing the "side" that you disagree with you could focus on the actual issues and not what's easiest to dismiss.

"Pointing out the evils of the US, past and present, does not mean you love burqas and fanatical theocracy... "

all this time I though i was sticking it to the infidel.this fanaticism is hard!
