    I'd just like it interject that prior to the gulf war, iraq had the best womens rights of any arab state.
    They were allowed to vote and received an 'equal wage for equal work'. Their rights certainly weren't at the level of present day United states... but they were on their way.

    Secondly I'd like to point out that war is almost ALWAYS about land or resources, or both.
    Nazi Germany tried to expand to gain more resources. The japanese attacked america because we shut off their oil.
    It all boils down to one side wanting what another side has.

    It's pretty ignorant to dismiss the quite obvious oil based motivation for attacking iraq. undoubtedly there are other reasons for the war other than the fact that iraq has 11% of the world oil. But that one fact is right in your face, and how you can just discount it makes very little sense to me.

    The oil thing may be "played out", but that doesn't make it any less true.

    as for the united states being attacked: yes you were, and you killed 50,000 people in afganistan to reciprocate. What does Iraq have to do with any of that? NOTHING!

    they tried and tried, but couldn't find anything to tie iraq in with the events of 9/11.
