didn't read any other response, but i guess my short answer response would be: work, live and breathe design; evolve.
i work in web design, and i honestly can't see myself staying in this career forever. i would love to be able to study and transcend into different design feilds over time. sounds nerdy, but would love to be in a number of different design careers.
actually that is probably what most people would say, so i'm not really that different...is that bad? : P
