well you have to make sure they are dvd- and not dvd+ dvd r's, but you probably already knew that.
i have had no problems with my dvd r drive as of yet. although when i copy movies onto new dvd- discs they often skip a scene or two. that get's annoying and i cant' figure out how to overcome this problem.
