Youtube is utter shit these days.
Any video over 8 minutes gets the longer ad break treatment, my recommended feed is almost entirely things I've already watched or put on my Watch Later list, and now music from bands I've never heard of. I can skip over a video a hundred times and it stays on my list until I tell Youtube to remove it, while new videos from channels or topics I regularly watch don't show up unless I search for them. A chunk of each video is the creator begging for likes and subscribes and promoting a sponsor or Patreon because they keep getting fucked by changes to the algorithm.
Someone out there has to be making a Youtube replacement.
- Google Enshittificate everything.PhanLo
- In all honesty, I haven't watched a video from the cooking channels I follow for ... wow, I dunno. A year and a half, maybe? It's pure shit, now.Continuity
- Both YT and the channels themselves. And YT keeps recommending shit to me I just couldn't give a fuck about.Continuity
- Complaining about ads on YouTube is like complaining for ads on Spotify's free plan, I haven't seen an ad on YouTube in like a decade.YakuZoku
- I can't block them on the TV app, which is where I watch most of the time, but all ads are blocked everywhere else.i_monk
- If this is their typical user experience, they're doomed.i_monk
- YT paid out more to their content creators more than Hollywood, Bollywood, and all the other "woods" in the world combined, they're not going anywhereYakuZoku
- $14/mo no ads, done.YakuZoku
- < And that is why the experience continues to get worse.monNom
- I've gone sour over some really loved channels I have been subscribed to for YEARS, only for them to now put out 'members only' videos.Akagiyama
- That I can only watch if I pay. WTFAkagiyama
- @Aka, same. I couldn't wait for new vids from the channels I subbed to, for a long time. Now? Ugh. Fuck 'em.Continuity
- $14/mo doesn't solve any of the other issues, and MrBeast getting millions doesn't stop the rest from like/subscribe/spons...i_monk
- ...or/patreoning their videos. Every January there's a slew of "I'm burnt out and leaving YT" videos because very few are actually making more than a few Ki_monk
- a month, and have to keep gaming the algorithm to even get their subscribers to see new videos.i_monk
- Just install Brave broswer, no more ads!!!Projectile
- The lack of reading comprehension in these notes.i_monk
- I read that wrong, I see what you mean, sorry I must have been high lolYakuZoku
