3 years. 3 years ago I was so bad I couldn't go more that 4 hours without needing alcohol to ward off shakes and sweats. Decided it was no way to live and stopped cold turkey. 4 days in I went to the ER with the DTs, really fucked up audible and visual hallucinations. A god damn symphony was playing out of my bedside fan that I could control the band, then basically the most demonic singers joined in. Shadows falling off the walls. The next 8 weeks were the hardest I have endured. It feels so fucking good being sober.

    • wow that's scary as fuck and amazing that you pulled through._niko

    • I had that shit coming out of the fan, and at the same time, what sounded like someone flipping through stations on an AM radio coming out of the ceiling vent.BonSeff
    • For a very long time, I thought I would die an alcoholic, and that there was no hope for sobriety. It is possible to put down the bottle.BonSeff
    • If anyone out there is struggling, get help. It is hard and you have to want it, and it sucks. But there is a way out.BonSeff

    • Bizarre how brains work. I was very drunk once, when I was 18. I told myself then: I don't want to experience this again. It's poison. Never drank after that.stewart
