The day after Thanksgiving, I caught the flu. A week later, my condition worsened. I went to an urgent care center the following week because I couldn’t stop coughing and was struggling to breathe. Urgent care ended up sending me to the emergency room, where I was diagnosed with pneumonia and acute respiratory failure—my condition was so severe, I nearly died. I spent a week in the hospital, where they pumped me full of antibiotics and a range of other medications. Nearly a month later, I’m still recovering. It’s been the worst month of my life.
