Does anyone else feel like the government charges way too much in taxes for what we get? It doesn’t make sense anymore.

I understand people say things like, “taxes pay for roads and police and schools etc.”

And I get that concept. Except it’s NOT paying for those things. The country is in massive debt, and growing. Forever! There is no end imaginable. LIt’s absurd. It would be one thing if taxes were high because we were being pragmatic. But we’re not, it’s super wasteful. Seems so bloated.

And to be honest, I don’t want them to build more roads! Fuck drivers! Let them drive on the roads that are there. Also taxes pay for wars and war tech and I don’t want that.

People are not taxed equitably. And, taxpayers don’t get any real say in what the money is spent on.

So anyway, my point is that while I would never vote Republican (tbh they talk about reducing taxes but have you felt it?), I also don’t have anyone to vote for, if I even voted. Every time anyone in office suggests a new tax or raising taxes, I cringe!

And this feeling will never, ever go away.

    • That’s irrelevant though. I fundamentally oppose both party platforms. Not entirely, but enough that I would never vote for either

    • A city will build a new overpass with state funds so that people can get to work 4 minutes faster, meanwhile teachers can’t afford pencils.

    • You’re talking about the taxes you pay directly, which are usually mostly for schools and dictated by your district. Politicians talking about something else emonospaced
