My site had migrated to Godaddy from Mediatemple. Been a fucking nightmare trying to get access to emails and even login.
Fuck GoDaddy in the ass for real.

    Who do people use instead?

    • Is siteground good?PhanLo
    • If she's in the UK, get a UK provider. I use these guys, but it's not an endoresment as SS does too, lol https://www.thehosti…Nairn

    • Dreamhost for me after watching a few others test the waters. I've mostly got a bunch of simple static sites, with a few hidden Wordpress dev playgrounds.evilpeacock
    • Also, GoDaddy closed MT, then raised prices *a lot*. Everything is now CPanel, which is high overhead for small site management.evilpeacock
    • aws.com
I use a simple 'Lightsail' instance which costs $5+ /mth. It's WP but you can go behind the scenes and gut it / hack it up as you please.

    • Same thing happened to me. F GoDaddy for sure. Their customer service is remarkable terrible... like you have to make an effort towards being that Fing bad.jbasnight
    • fwiw, dreamhost since 2007. (for personal and some clients) no complaints. wordpress sites. low traffic tho.Squiddy
    • Matt Damon was in that dudes other movie ElysiumYakuZoku
    • Oh yeah Elysium, it's been a long few months. Finally got into my emails. It's like being in Black Mirror.PhanLo
    • Same thing happened to me - MT to GoDaddy migration - way more expensive for zero real reason (other than profits), will. be moving off next month.bulletfactory
    • ^I was about to buy more email space and then the chat person said, to their credit that I actually had my emails on some hard to reach part of the sitePhanLo
    • The navigation is brutalPhanLo
    • Here use my cock too and fuck themAQUTE
    • Panopticon is running on free hosting from Firebase. I posted the method a while back. It's probably only feasible for personal projects.palimpsest
    • Been using Hostgator for the last few years. Customer service is worse than it used to be but its very reliable.webazoot
    • Had GoDaddy ransom a clients domain once, client had paid them & had proof but their CS wouldn't allow access until it was paid a second time. Was weird.webazoot
    • Why did I think you were asking about your sister's site?! *rubs eyes*Nairn
    • Same as graf, I use opalstack too. Their customer service is excellent.pusherbot
    • Me, too. Emails gone. I am paid up til Jan then fuck em.BonSeff
    • I got my emails back but the webmail is so flakey. It’s like the Mediatemple part is stuck in a cupboard down a corridor that is locked offPhanLo
    • Will save the thread, pretty useful infoPhanLo
    • Siteground won't host any cool new javascript oriented sites. Found out the hard way.canoe
    • Going through the same MT -> Godaddy separation brother. It’s been a fucking nightmare. Like 20 years with MT!!!ideaist
    • My old mac had dies and I'd been lazy at getting it fixed so it made the process even more painful. reading the reddit threads made it even worse.PhanLo
