Our house is infested with ants again but this time it's different.
In the past they would form paths to food areas to gather stuff.

now they hang around in groups of 5 or 6.

They bring their heads together like they are having a meeting and form a circle, in places that they have not much chance for food. Like couches or empty shelves of the kitchen.

What are they talking about? or planning?

2-3 weeks ago the house was full of flying ones. Queens I suppose? So many, but I couldn't find where they came from.

We don't poison them and we tried all the natural methods. Something esoteric going on.

    • Moved on top of an anti hill a few years back. First year was bad until we figured it out. Spray perimeter foundation with permethrin in spring. No more ants.monNom
    • We use something from Bayer. It's called "Matón" in Spain. Zero problems with ants in 20 years.OBBTKN

    • They soak clothing in permethrin in the America. Can't be that bad, right?

Apparently it's highly toxic to cats.

    • I wouldn't soak my whole yard in it, but a perimeter right on the foundation wall seems effective with little opportunity for accidental contact.monNom
    • Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around doorways and drain pipes and such.i_monk
    • Listen to whatthefunk. Put a few Terros around, and they will take the poison back to the hive. D-earth also gets dragged back and kills them all.garbage
