This afternoon I had to try-out two kids to get a spot on the soccer team that I coach. It's nothing prestigious at all, but we play 7v7 and I don't need a 20 kid bench where every parent wants to see their kid play. About half-way thru I realized that my wedding ring wasn't on my finger. It was about 36F (2C) and I've lost weight since I was married back in 2010. My ring slides around pretty easily now and when it's cold my fingers seem to shrink.
I'm near the end of our try-out when I realize my ring is gone and immediately start scanning the ground (turf field) for my ring. Nothing. I even get the parents of one of the boys I was trying out to look. But then I thought about how earlier this morning I was transferring some logs from my "wood pile" into my custom built "wood storage shed" wearing some gloves and was hopeful that my ring was in my glove. It was and all is good with my world.

I realized that I'm old school and I still like wearing my wedding ring and all that it means to me and my sweet wife. Totally get it if that's not your style, but I'm just really glad that I didn't lose my ring today.

    • lol, I'm in the same boat, always on, and I've buried it before, I dug a bunch of deep holes in my garden to bury some leaves and after I finished I realized my_niko
    • ring was gone. I had to dig everything up again but thankfully I found it, talk about a needle in a haystack_niko

    • I went on a bachelor party to Vegas / Lake Powell and mine NEARLY slipped off when we were wakeboarding. Lost my ring on a stag..Explain that!DaveO
    • Dropped mine in the sea within 48hrs of being married. Through shear luck I saw it sparkling in the sand on the bottom, dove and got it.monNom
    • Later, I managed to throw it (wet, covered in sunscreen) into the sand at the beach while shaking my hands dry. I sifted that whole beach until I found it.monNom
    • I got it sized tighter since then and I’m much more careful with sunscreen and water. That was like two near-death experiences in close succession.monNom
    • Today I extended an offer to one kid, and had to send a rejection email to the other kid's Mom.stoplying
