    Everyone is racist
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In…

Oxytocin, the so-called love hormone, is really a us-vs-them amplifier.
    https://time.com/49399/oxytocin-…
"A study done in the Netherlands showed that oxytocin increased the in-group favoritism of their nation while decreasing acceptance of members of other ethnicities and foreigners.[41] People also show more affection for their country's flag while remaining indifferent to other cultural objects when exposed to oxytocin."

If evolution has given us a separate hormone with oxytocin-specific receptors, there must have been a good reason for it. Xenophobia had some beneficial function in the past when we lived in small tribes, but today it's an atavism -- an ancestral trait like vestigial tail, werewolf syndrome, wisdom teeth etc, except racism is not a throwback, but a full featured instinct.

The problem is that our biology is stubborn and racism will probably stick with us for many hundreds of years to come. There is no obvious negative selection where racists are filtered out from the gene pool.

Just realize it's part of your firmware and not part of your personality. Some people are able to ignore it (together with other firmware functions like fear of death, desire to supersede others etc), the remaining 90% are functional illiterates and don't have this level of reflection.

This is why I'm pessimistic about multiculturalism in general. Not because it's bad or immigrants are bad or whatever, but simply because humans in general, both immigrants and natives, are not mature enough to handle it.

Meanwhile, we aim to colonize Mars and other planets while still carrying these cave instincts. Chances are some religious group will wipe out half of humanity with some AI-engineered virus or a bucket of pure botox-grade neurotoxin thrown into the ocean

    • oxytocin is a bonding hormone released during childbirth. to attempt to equate it with a party drug using the loose "love" determination, is willfully ignorantimbecile
    • Oxytocin is released whenever
