Is anyone of you using new pronouns in everyday conversations? This is a serious question, because for me it feels like learning a new language.

    • it's not that difficult and improves collaboration.uan
    • Like xe/xem/xyr?
No. You're hanging with the wrong crowd.

    • Pansexual means having sex with aliens? Are you serious?SimonFFM

    • enough to realise that you can spot 'them' from 20ft and more often using correct pronouns to converse about how insane 'they' are (for reasons other thankingsteven
    • pronouns) with other folks rather than actually in use in conversation with folks that use pronouns.kingsteven
    • I don’t. It’s weird to me and feels unnecessary.monospaced

    • Xeye do, aye.Nairn
    • There are just pronouns I wasn't aware of. They were not in my vocabulary and I need to learn. Same when someone says to you "I'm a CIS woman" and I didn'tSimonFFM
    • know what to respond as it was live on tv. That's all I am saying. I feel it's difficult to catch up with all the new terms.SimonFFM
    • Just coz I sound like having a hard time, all is good! I was skating this morning and didn't try any crazy tricks (thinking of QBN advice).SimonFFM
    • *drgs is typing...drgs
    • CIS woman isn't a pronoun. Pansexuals having sex with aliens ?

What are you on about, Simon?

    • I was referring to 'Green Lantern' and was told about the aliens that look like insects. I am not a comic guy, so I can't get into more details...SimonFFM
    • Nope, just carrying on as is. If I get corrected then I'll use the preference out of politeness.microkorg
    • And even if a mix of folk I'll still use "...you guys...".
Seemingly more PC is 'you folks'

    • Never met anyone where that was required. I know a trans man. I call him he/him. That's it so far.jagara

    • I'm yet to meet anyone who specifies pronouns, but I'm always aware when something is only for attention and when to just ignore it.Ianbolton
    • I know two people who are they/them and I use it for them. Not daily usage. Sometime I fuck it up (he/she) but they’re reasonable people so they let it slide.

    • "You people" covers all bases though right, palimpsest. I wish you people would just....Ianbolton
    • I’ve worked with many people who use they/them. In my experience, theyre bothered only when someone INTENTIONALLY uses the wrong one, to make a point or be rude

    • Try your best and don’t worry too much about it. Think of it as a good small brain exercise that will help prevent dementia later in your life :)

    • I live in America so I’ve co-opted “y’all” from the south. It’s a perfect replacement for “you guys” but probably would sound odd in Europe

    • Exactly what nb said. I'm mostly confused as to why this is being treated like some new issue?garbage
    • It's a pronoun to you, an identity to others. I do not understand why it's so hard to respect somebody else.garbage
    • They/them is easy. But there are pronouns I had to google e.g. xier or dey (German).SimonFFM
    • Yeah, like I said, try your best and don’t take it too hard. If someone gets mad, just say “I didn’t mean to offend, I’m trying my best and still learning.”
