    GOLA - Made in England.

Not sure how I feel about these, my first thought was 'Brexit shoes'.

    • Kinda classic, should be in the 80's-90's thread.shapesalad
    • You wore these or Hi-Tek at school, you got rinsed.faxion
    • I have worn both! lol...shapesalad
    • Now THE shoe of the Brexit voter.shapesalad
    • I had a pair of these, minus the flag, when I was a student.Chimp
    • Faxion speaks the truth... you turned at my school in these or Hi-Tek, you was basically letting the kids know you chose death lolnecromation
    • Hi-Tek & Gola were indeed starter kits for being bullied in 90's UK.Hayzilla
    • gola's and reeboks will get you called out for being a cop here. walsh seem pretty decent looking for british made gear

    • what faxion saidmicrokorg
    • my first thought was samba rip offsfooler
    • It's like adidas Sambas and Onitsuka Tigers had an affair, and forgot the condoms.Continuity
    • @Continuity is correct; Sambas AND Tigers.ideaist
    • So, quite apart from the fact they're derivative and ho-hum as sneakers, what about them would get you bullied?Continuity
    • if memory serves, they were 'budget brands', so you were poor if you wore them.Nairn
    • Ah. Same thing when I was in school with Levi's Orange Tab jeans. Turn up in those, and you're telling every kid in the school you want a violent death.Continuity
    • For the same 'budget brand' reason.Continuity
    • Go Samba, or Tiger if you like the style else you'll get your head flushed down the loo by the bigger kids.robthelad
    • Ha, stateside it was LA Gear if you didn't have the LA Lights.garbage
    • British Knights were the same way, but a bit more complicated if you lived in a city school, because Crips / sons of Crips would wear BKs.garbage
    • BK = Blood Killergarbage
    • I had a pair of brown BK trainers. For shame, my vague memory of them is that they were AWFUL. I thought I was so cool, hahaNairn
    • (where I lived, at least, they were seen as VERY cool.. by prats, I realise now)Nairn
    • Haha BK and Troop. Never had a pair of either but a friend was daft on 'em.
Yes Gola were very budget trainers.
      microkorg
    • You could MAYBE get away with Hi-Tec's at school but definitely not Gola. Only thing beneath these would be Plimsoles or 'Marks and Spencer Two-Stripes'microkorg
    • lol microkorg, yep 2 stripes were the bottom of the pile but yes Gola kids had a tough time of it also.fadein11
    • Brexit shoes made me lolSimonFFM
    • BK and Troop were viable alternatives in early 90's England. Troop has an interesting story I didn't know... https://en.wikipedia…Hayzilla
    • @nairn lol I'm dying at the idea of brown BKs. Pre-camouflaged for the toilet.garbage
    • Hi-Tec were for weird dads who played badminton and drove Volvos.Fax_Benson
    • ^ You are of course referring to Silver Shadows.Hayzilla
    • I think Fax means the Hi-Tec squash shoes there, but yes - Silver Shadows were popular with nice but square kids and Dads.Nairn
    • They're almost quite cool. Almost, but also entirely not.

      Nairn
    • ^ I don't hate them.Continuity
