kinda interesting to read all this shit about legacy when her actual legacy may end up being her great final and foolish misstep to not retire.

like, she may have set the judiciary back as much as she brought it forward by not retiring under obama's first term (at which point she had cancer twice and broken three ribs in a fall) when they had a massive liberal majority across the electorate.

whatever, though. mitch mcconnell is fucking salivating right now. even though the GOP got lampooned in 2018 after the kavanaugh debacle, in the end that dude is on the court and they didn't lose the senate over it.

so yeah i mean. "grind til you die" and all.

    • This is why the left needs to show up and vote...and hopefully they will after this.yuekit
    • People like McConnell weren't dropped into the government by magic, they are there because old people and conservatives vote in every election.yuekit
    • Also interestingly Ginsburg was not the most left-wing Supreme Court justice, Sonio Sotomayor (appointed by Obama) is.yuekit
    • So things can get better, conceivably we could have a MORE left SC a year from now. But unfortunately in our system it really does come down to votingyuekit
    • Got to love a system whose sole protection against falling into unrestrained authoritarianism and dismantling of citizen's rights was an 87yo invalid.face_melter
    • The system sucks, but good luck changing the entire system when people can't even be bothered to check a box on a piece of paper once every two years.yuekit
    • Your point is somewhat taken but if there was no electoral college, Clarence Thomas would be the only conservative justice on the court.CyBrainX
    • Thank God not ruled by a few cities that dont represent the majority of the us...deathboy
