What is the point of a catch and release mousetrap? To treat them like homing pigeons? To more efficiently train cats?

Wondering if the world needs a catch and release roach or mosquito trap.

    • Some people don’t like handling dead animalsGnash
    • To salve human guilt and immediate responsibility. Catch and release just adds prey to some other environment. It's actually illegal here in the UKNairn
    • ..to release rodents you've caught at home.Nairn
    • ^ really? Interesting !Gnash
    • Yeah, i only realised recently when looking into ways to kill a rat that we had in our garden (Poison, unfortunately. Really, really didn't want to go that way)Nairn
    • i wonder if it's the same where i am. never really thought about itGnash
    • Found a decomposing mouse under the floor boards the other day, I think it had ate some old poison. Since we got the cat I thought we'd got rid of it all.PhanLo
    • Mice are easier to get with traps - they're cheap and you can hide loads of them. Failing that, glue on sheets, hide out and then bash them with a frying panNairn
    • Rat traps are more expensive, much more lethal with a kid around, and rats are smarter. Only way is poison. Or a mongoose. Hard to rent tho.Nairn
    • One night some years ago I caught a whole family of mice one after the other in traps. Felt bad about it, but they did piss and shit over some of the cupboardsPhanLo
    • Glue traps are the only way to effectively get the c*ntsmicrokorg
    • My cat is lazy AF. I had to pay a guy 4k to get rid of our rat problem. I used glue traps till one bit me and i ended up in the ER for rat fever. F those shitsscarabin
    • I caught a robin in a glue trap and felt awful. Had to drown it in a bucket. And there’s a possum with a missing leg around that i suspect got into somethingscarabin
    • Glue traps are evil AF though. I've caught two mice on them and despatched them in what I hope was a fairly short period, but fuck if that's not a bad way to goNairn
    • @scar: Robin - Oh Jeez.
We 'stored' our glue strips outside and my biggest worry is that we'd capture a bird by accident. I couldn't even...
      Nairn
    • btw, if you need to kill something quick - just get your biggest, heaviest cooking pan. Twat it. Kill it quick. Drowning? Your witch ancestors doth rotate!Nairn
    • @scara Holy shit, that's heavy. I was walking my dog once and he did the whole dart and gnab thing. I assumed it was a normal "no street treats" scenario..garbage
    • ..so I yanked what I expected to be an old chicken wing out of his mouth. It was a rat. I threw it so fast, and so far.garbage
