Sounds like we do really similar work.
I ran my business as a 1-man-show for over 10 years. I never referred to myself as a "studio," an "agency," or anything similar.
I just called myself a "business."
The reason for me is personal. I kind of cringe at the connotations of the word "studio" because I've seen it abused too much.
I now run a 2-person business with my wife. We still don't call it a "studio" or an "agency." There's really not a good word to call it, so again, I just refer to it as a "business."
I'd like to think of us as the "anti-agency," but saying that sounds kinda snooty too, so I dunno...
