On Monday, I met with a physical therapist who told me the MRI on my knee shows a cyst, some damaged cartilage, that I was born with slightly angled knee caps which have contributed to this damage and damage to what I remember she described as a fatty blob under the knee cap. While none of these thing require any invasive treatment, my running days are over. I LOVE running. I've done it since I was about 14. I can use elliptical. I'd love to find a pool but that's hard in Manhattan. I've never complained about age in my 55 years but this is tough to take.

    • Sympathies. That's a bummer, although you might find a new thing that you get into as a result - an opportunity, like.Fax_Benson
    • Did the therapist suggest / schedule the MRI? I fear something similar with my knees but can't get a scan on the NHS.Fax_Benson
    • That’s terrible, I can’t imagine the feeling. I love to run, it’s my therapy. I also go to the gym, but it’s not the same thing...dmay
    • That really sucks man. I love running too. Can you do an elliptical machine?sarahfailin
