  ok, unpopular opinion here: what about staying the fuck where you are and making the best of it.
  My city is full of these expat guys with savings on self-discovery trips. They come here, burn through their money, "having the time of their lives", dream about developing the next killer app or whatever and cause general havoc because they can leave anytime to the next cheaper city and don’t care what happens here after. They are like cultural vampires – they only take but never give.
