Well we dream every night yet we don't remember most of it, if any, so just because you don't remember anything before birth doesn't mean there wasn't anything.

Personally I believe we are old souls with many lives before and many after, we have a veil of forgetfulness when we are in a body in order to learn the lessons of the life we are living. So in my opinion when we die we go back to the dream realm where we remember everything, probably have a chuckle at how fucking ridiculously we behaved, choose a new body to inhabit and start over the cycle probably re-living certain situations over and over until we learn the desired lessons from them.

That's a nice romantic view of it, probably slightly more romantic than the possibility of descending into the eternal abyss of nothingness.

    • cool, I've also had that thought. In my dreams I go back to places from time to time, so thought it would be fun to realize one day, it was all real. which secretly i think it is, but that's just me. ;)sea_sea
