  From the sounds of it, anyone young and healthy is better off paying the fine, and just paying out of pocket for the random medical expenses you might incur every couple of years. Then when you get hit with something serious, jump onto a plan, as you can't be turned down.

  Seriously, $6k/year (or whatever) buys a LOT of visits to the doctor.

  Also, because of the above, this scheme is completely bonkers.

  • ambulance with no insurance cost $10K, an overnight in emergency room $10K..e-pill
