So if you don't get Obama Care there's a $2,500 penalty. If Obama Care is supposed to be mandatory, why not auto sign everyone up to it with a simple click, so people can avoid a $2,500 penalty? I just found out today about this, and I have two months to sign up. Doesn't give me adequate time to do any research. It doesn't seem right.

The whole system is a compromise, the original intent was not the law we have now. Insurance companies had their hand in crafting the bill that came under legislation, remember how they derailed the '93 attempt.

Well I'm kind of pissed... I now have to fork out an additional $66- per pay or $1,716 annually for Obamacare.
Thanks Obama!

I thought Obama Care was gonna be so great, everyone would flock towards it like free iPads. But instead, they put a gun to your head if you don't sign up with these penalties. Plus I thought it was supposed to be FREE healthcare. But instead there's all these various packages you have to sign up for, with no rollover usage if you don't use it. I hate paying for shit I'm not using. It also doesn't cover alot from what I'm hearing.
- So you're just trolling?hereswhatidid
- I'm just pissed and confused.omg
- Nothing is free, never was. The Public Option that the R's killed was what everyone wantedformed

Penalty is $95 or 1 percent of your income, whichever is higher.

You obviously weren't paying attention. They have always said that you have to have insurance of some type and if you didn't you would pay a fee. There is no such thing as free.

The past 20 years, I've not needed to go see a doctor. The government feels that I should had have to pay $40,000 for those healthy years, just for a 50% discount coupon for the doctors. I wish I had $40,000 to bank right now.
- You likely paid insurance even though you may not have crashed your car or had your house burn down.ETM
- um, do you know what insurance is? I have life insurance and ain't dead yet!formed
- death insurance would be appropriate, since that's when it pays off. Enjoy that bounty in your future. you're probably worth more dead than aliveomg
- .. worth more dead than alive. THUMBS UP!omg

You really thought it was free? Some if us were pushing for a better system years ago when this was passed into law, i.e. the public option. Obamacare is basically the Massachusetts health care system applied to the whole country.

The fee for 2014 is:
$95 per person
or
1% of your household income,
whichever number is higher.So, someone who makes $50,000 a year will pay a $500 fee.
In 2015, the fee is 2% of your income.
Thereafter, the fee percentage is adjusted for inflation.

So then it's cheaper to get the penalty than pay for Obama Care? For the next 20 years, people can save $40,000 paying $2,000 in penalties. Buy a BMW- I see what you did there...dMullins
- And they would have absolutely no healthcare options because they failed to sign up so they would pay out of pocket which is many times more.monospaced

there's no such thing as taxes either
- I don't need to pay taxes! I never had to call the police and I don't plan on it!mrrgl

Am I supposed to drop my current health care, which is my daily routine on my gym membership and eating right ( which has worked for me for the past 20 years) for this Obama Care?
- It depends. You should check and see which has better coverage.dMullins
- i see now its a before and after thought on health.omg
- you can't be serious...
gym membership and eating right a replacement for healthcare? I want whatever you are smokingMiguex - Am I supposed to drop my car insurance because I dont drink and drive or speed. I haven't had a ticket or accident for 20 years.fooler

I'm starting to suspect this is just an anti-obamacare troll thread. You can't possibly be this dense about the topic.
- oh please share some of your wisdom. You obviously have ObamaCare Pro.omg

@omg: Unfortunately, that's the point of Obamacare. Publicly-subsidized healthcare.

waivers for individuals;
Individual mandate waivers
Finally, Obamacare provides for several specific waivers from the mandate that individuals purchase insurance.12 The individual mandate will not apply to you, or you can get a waiver, if you:Are a religious objector;
Are a member of a “Health care sharing ministry;”
Are an illegal alien;
Are in jail;
Are poor;
Are a member of an Indian tribe; or
Are suffering a “hardship.”

what some people will do is since there is no preexisting condition clause, which was shity for insurance companies to do anywho... if its cheaper to pay the fine will pay till they get sick and then sign up then hitting the system hard. thus it will be more expensive then private insurance you had before.
