I've used Roku as my primary device for watching TV for about a year now. It's pretty awesome. I have the base model but it works fine for streaming netflix, hulu plus, etc...
One nice thing about it is the wifi connection. It allows you to set up a roku on a TV that's not within a few feet of your router/cable modem.
There is some decent content available on the free channels, but I primarily use it for netflix, hulu +, mlb, and nhl center ice. Those are all paid services, but the total cost of all of them is still way cheaper than cable TV.
